DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men’s basketball team looks to reset after dropping three-straight, including two close games against Radford and USC Upstate. The Eagles will travel west on I-40 to face familiar foe North Carolina A&T on Tuesday, followed by a return to McDougald-McLendon Arena on Friday as NCCU welcomes the Knights of St. Andrews. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

NC CENTRAL BENCH
Before playing its third consecutive road game on Tuesday, NCCU men’s hoops visited Radford on Saturday, Dec. 9. The team put up a fight clawing back from 16 down to tie up the ball game in the second half, but the Highlanders defeated NC Central 82-74.
Sophomore Josh Smith (Chicago, Ill.) finished with a game-high of 19 points at Radford. Fellow sophomore Po’Boigh King(Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) finished with 17 points and seven rebounds. Devin Gordon(Powder Springs, Ga.) and Guy Fauntleroy(Upper Marlboro, Md.) also scored double figures for the Eagles. NCCU is still battling injuries as head coach LeVelle Moton used his fifth different starting lineup this season.
The last time NC Central met North Carolina A&T was in 2021 in Greensboro, N.C. The Aggies won 55-53. Tuesday’s game will be the 159th game of the Eagle-Aggie Classic. NCCU’s match-up with St. Andrews on Friday will be the third ever meeting between the two programs. The Eagles have a 2-0 advantage over the Knights.
NC A&T BENCH
North Carolina A&T has yet to win a game this season. The last time out, the Aggies fell to High Point 75-62. Landon Glasper scored 20 points and grabbed four rebounds. N.C. A&T had four more scorers in double figures as well.
Glasper ranks fourth in scoring in the Colonial Athletic Association at 18.9 points per game. Camian Shell ranks second in the conference for assists per game (6.8) and is third in assist to turnover ratio (3.0).
Head coach Monte Ross is new to the rivalry as he is in his first season at NC A&T after spending 10 years coaching Delaware. The two teams haven’t met since the Aggies left the MEAC, now playing in the CAA. This will be only the second home game for the Aggies.
ST. ANDREWS BENCH
St. Andrews dropped their last contest 84-72 against Johnson University. Xzavier McFadden led all scorers with 20 points before fouling out. Quwaun Barnes grabbed 12 rebounds to lead both sides.
McFadden is the current leading scorer for St. Andrews at 16 points per game. Jalen McAfee-Marion averages 12.7 points per contest, shooting 85.7 percent from the floor. Allan Taylor is the Knight’s leading rebounder at 8.4 per game.
The Eagles hosted the Knights last December winning 127-40. Their leading scorer was Taylor with 12 points in 19 minutes. St. Andrews will have one more game before making the trip to Durham, N.C. as the team hosts future NCCU opponent Truett-McConnell on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
